Choose an occupation to research. If you have trouble choosing, consider these ideas:
- Use the "My Next Move" tool from Guidance to explore your career options.
- Brainstorm with your friends, family, and Roundtable.
- Ask people who know you what you would be good at, what you would enjoy.
- Think about a time when you were really happy and also successful, in school or outside. What were you doing? Were you working with ideas, things or people? What interests do you have that made this time fun?
- Think about a project you are proud of. What kinds of skills did that project involve?
- Think about what's important to you about a job. Do you want to make a lot of money? Work outside? Live in the city? Work with children? Work with your hands? Make food? Design cars? Study dinosaurs? Work for a sports team crunching statistics or make movies or work in the woods? Let your imagination run.
